Camp Matyholweni
A new road road through the Southern block, links Camp Matyholweni to the Addo Main Camp and the main game viewing area. Large game such as elephants, buffalo, zebra etc. will only be released in this area once fencing is complete in 2008. Please note that the gate linking the two Camps opens at 7.00am and closes at 5.30pm. At present, the Matyholweni area is home to many bird species and smaller mammals such as bushbuck, bushpig, kudu and common duiker.

Most of the facilities of Addo are to be found at the Main Camp in the current elephant enclosure. The camp is accessed from the R 342. The administration and management offices are also housed here. A shop containing basic food supplies, soft drinks, alcohol and curios is next to the reception area. Also within walking distance of reception is a restaurant, swimming pool, bird hide, waterhole viewing point and picnic area. The guided game drive office, where you both book and leave from on a day and night drives is also here. Petrol and diesel are available. The Main Camp offers a variety of accommodation to suit various tastes and pockets, whilst in other sections of Addo accommodations ranges from luxury concessionary lodges to basic bush camping.
the 22 chalets can sleep either two adults and two children or three adults. Each chalet is a bedsitter with two single beds and a bathroom with bath and shower. Two chalets are adapted to accommodate physically disabled persons.
The six air-conditioned semi-detached chalets sleep two persons and have two single beds, a bathroom and a well equipped kitchenette.
This air-conditioned chalet can sleep a maximum of six persons and consists of one bedroom with a double bed and a bedsitter area with two single beds and a sleeper couch, a bathroom and equiped kitchen.

The eight cottages each sleep two persons. It consist of two single beds with bathroom and a well equipped kitchenette with a bar-fridge, microwave overn and a fan.
Camp Matyholweni, opened in October 2004, is the new satellite rest camp in the park. Matyholweni (which means "in the bush" in the Xhosa language) is situated in the new Southern block of the park near the small town of Colchester. Access to the camp is very convenient, with the N2 highway (between Port Elizabeth and Grahamstown) a mere 3 km from the camp. 61 units are available in the main camp and 12 units available in Camp Matyholweni.
The camp has 12 self-catering chalets, nine of which sleep two people. Three of the chalets sleep two people plus a sleeper couch suitable for one or two children.
