The secret world of Port Elizabeth -Africa's watersport Capital - is waiting to be discovered. A mysterious world of dramatic and colourful reefs, interesting shipwrecks and unique sea life await divers who venture into the depths of the Indian Ocean. Rated as one of South Africa's best cold water dives; ideal conditions prevail all year with visibility of 8 - 15 m in the bay during the winter months (May to September) and 8 - 15 m on the Wildside in summer. Sea temperatures in winter vary between 150 C- 180 C and in summer 190 C - 210 C. Port Elizabeth, protected by Algoa Bay, prides itself in its safe access to many dive sites. There are a wide variety of fish and densely populated reefs. The islands of Port Elisabeth offer a friendly community of penguins and seals. Dolphins in the bay are common.
